Start Up Idea : Flood Forecasting with BIRR and Wildfire Impacts

Start-Up Idea: Flood Forecasting Models considering BIRR and Wildfire Impacts.

Flood Forecasting Models: A flood forecasting model will typically comprise of a hydrological component in which flood discharges are estimated from rainfall measurements and forecasts, and a hydrodynamic component, in which the water levels along the entire river network are calculated.

Building-induced rainfall redistribution: Microtopography on the building roof direct the rainfall from roofs to the ground through the downspouts and transform the rainfall spatial distribution from plane to points. This is known as Building Induced Rainfall Redistribution(BIRR).

Wildfire Impacts: Ater or during a wildfire the unknowns associated with such events are its effects on vegetation and soil conditions that influence hydrologic processes including infiltration, surface runoff, erosion, sediment transport, and flooding. At the time of development of the hydrologic models, such impacts need to be considered for more accurate predictions.

Area of Application/Consumers: Energy, Insurance, Tourism Industries

A Flood Forecasting Model can be developed considering the impact of wildfires and BIRR such that the accuracy level of the predictions will be more reliable compared to the existing hydrological models. This model results can be provided to the stakeholders of peri-urban watersheds(a watershed where both urban and rural land use can be observed) which can be used by energy, tourism, insurance industries with greater confidence at the time of strategic management and risk analysis of a project in that area.

Start Up Idea : Harvester for Extreme Events App

An app which by retrieving the local weather information can predict the potential of the area for harvesting specific crops. The app can be connected to automatic weather monitoring systems for real-time retrieval of data. The parameters that will be monitored : 1)Temperature 2)Rainfall 3)Humidity 4)Soil Moisture Among all these parameters Soil Moisture is the only parameter that needs to be monitored in real-time by an optical sensor connected to the App. After a prediction is made based on the weather values, the same is compared with a threshold value which is predefined.  The owner of the app can take a subscription fee or per-service fee against receiving the required data from the map. Selection of Optimal Quality Water for Specific Uses by ANN-MCDM based Auto-Selector

Project Idea : Selection of Optimal Quality Water for Specific Uses by ANN-MCDM based Auto-Selector Requirement : Knowledge of photo-sensors,Artifiicial Neural Network,Multi-Criteria Decision Making. Justification of the Study : The change in the climate pattern, pollution concentration in the air and water, ever growing demand and lastly the uncontrolled extraction of natural resources has induced a situation where the amount of water demanded, available and usable has noticeable level of difference. That is why day by day water is becoming scarce and consumers has to ensure proper measures for optimal utilization of the resource. An automatic selector which can seperate water based on its quality specific uses may help to control misuse of the resource. Brief Methodology : Relationship between water quality and its uses must be determined first. The MCDM techniques can be devised to decide about the quality of water for specific use. After correlation is determined some sensors ...

Impact of Climate Change on Groundwater Level in Religious Places

Project Idea : Impact of Climate Change on Groundwater Level in Religious Places Requirement : Hydro-metereological, Future Climate and groundwater level Data, Knowledge about Predictive Groundwater Models. Justification of the Study : A significant characteristic of religious place is uncontrolled extraction of groundwater. During climate change when rainfall and temperature will either increase or decrease, the extraction of groundwater can induce implication on the level of the same. As a result the very extraction of groundwater will be difficult. Brief Methodology : After collecting the relevant data, a model can be prepared to predict the level of groundwater of the religious place. Models like visual groundwater or an entirely new model can be developed by various metaheuristic methods. Thanks, This same idea can be found from www.baipatra.ws
